Hello from Melinoe! Also Bonus CreeperCross-stitch

This blog seems to have slept through the autumn, sorry about that!
Part of the reason behind this is the busy nature of us contributors and part of this (at least for me) was Minecraft.

So, in my quest to combine craft with Minecraft, I have been cross-stitching characters and items from the game. The pixelated graphics of the game really help! I have made a quick chart below of one of the coolest yet deadliest monsters from the game, the iconic creeper. The creeper is a stealthy leafy creature with an explosive temper that can ruin your carefully made block based world! A force of nature to be reckoned with.

Summer How To : Refreshing Face Mist

After two months of thinking that Summer was never going to come, the U.K has finally got some hot weather, hot but grey. Right now, I'm willing to embrace this sorry excuse of a summer! *MELT*

The only problem I have is that I find it really hot and muggy and there is only so many showers a person can take in a day and I find splashing my face with water repetitively tends to dry out my cheeks and cause my T zone to go into overdrive! Grrr!

After a short search in some shops and online, I found that there aren't really many things that are suitable/viable for refreshing my skin that is both inexpensive for the amount of it I'll get through at the moment and readily available!

Things I Love : August 2011

Hello everyone! Sorry it's been so long since I last updated this blog! I don't really have a valid reason or good excuse, but I am back now!
Recently I have seen my make up collection grow and some things just stand out more than others. Also, with the changable weather in the U.K my skin doesn't know if it's summer or winter and keeps getting overly oily or crazy dry so I have been able to try a lot of different things and needed to switch things up!

Without further waffling lets get started on my huge list of things I am currently loving! ^_^

Skin SOS : Dry Skin Remedy

The scrub should look like this!
I recently purchased some over the counter acne cream after being recommended it by the pharmacist and whilst it has worked wonders on that I am left with a different problem... Extremely dry, sore skin.

This is something I have never experienced on my face and I have been lost as to what to do to both relieve and restore my skin.

My face wash and regular skin care routine is aimed at combination acne prone skin and so I am stuck with a lot of products that seem to just aggravate my dry chin and cheek areas. I don't really want to get another chemical based cream to cure my dry skin problem and would like something more natural to try and get things back to normal first - obviously if this continues I may have to go back and ask for another cream to fix my skin.

HOWEVER! I tried making a face scrub a while ago using sugar, honey and extra virgin olive oil and found it too oily for my skin! After feeling baffled about what to do as my previous efforts had little to no relief I figured I'd give the concoction another try.

These ingredients are amazing! Sugar is a great natural exfoliator, honey has antibacterial qualities and is great for reducing inflamation whilst olive oil is intensively nourishing.

Embellishing a sunhat

For a surprise for a friend of mine, I have been looking for a cute sunhat for her son who is a little over a year old. Most of the things I had found had fallen short of what I wanted so when I found this Child's plain navy hat (for the bargain price of £1 from Tesco), I knew I had a fun quick project on my hands.

Chocolate - Yummy and good for your skin!

Easter is almost here (April 24th) and with all the chocolate that comes with this time of year I have a few suggestions on indulgent homemade products which mean you can satisfy your chocolate cravings without putting on extra pounds!

The best chocolate to use (and the healthiest kind to eat) contain at least 50 percent cacao. Also, as dark chocolate has a more bitter taste than Milk chocolate you'll only need a couple of squares to get your chocolate fix! Even if you don't enjoy the taste of dark chocolate you can still get the benefits from it by using it in one of these delicious skin care recipes!

Easter Bunnies!

As it is the Chinese year of the Rabbit, and as it's almost Easter I have decided to write a suitably festive post! <3

Melinoe's Haul of make up

I, unlike my sister Rozenrot, have been collecting make-up for quite a while. I'm glad she is coming over to the bright side!

Being somewhat of a magpie for bright colours and trying new things, whilst trying to keep everything in budget, I accompanied her to the lovely make-up shop that is sadly closing down to explore the half price sales.
